My customer already paid the invoice via direct debit but it still shows Payment Pending in Pencil

You may have a customer who has paid by direct debit, but you are still waiting for the funds to be disbursed (paid out).

For direct debit transactions we set the payment status to Payment Pending while we wait the outcome of the direct debit transaction.

Once the payment is successful the payment will update to Paid in Pencil.

For direct debit in Australia, it takes 3 business days before we know the status of the direct debit transaction. Once this is confirmed, the funds will be disbursed (paid out) into your nominated account on the third business day.
