How to connect your DEAR account with Pencil?

  1. Go to www.pencilpay.com Click on the LOGIN button top right on the home page

  2. Log in with your Supplier login

  3. On the Left-hand side of the click on the “Integrations” tab

  4. Select DEAR:

    1. In a separate tab log into Dear
    2. In the list on the Left click on “Integration”

      1. Select the DEAR API icon

      2. Click the + sign to add a new API connection

      3. Type the name of the API connection and press save

    3. Copy the Account ID and return to Pencils page and paste in the Dear Account ID field

    4. Go back into the Dear and copy the key and paste into Pencil under the Dear API Application Key field

    5. Click Save to save changes

    6. Select the following:

      1. Payment Term

      2. Tax Rule

      3. Accounts Receivable

      4. Revenue Account

      5. Tags (see this demo video https://youtu.be/EKS_vwUlpAo on how to configure DEAR tags - if you have consumer customers that you do not wish to sync with Pencil Tags, please select only the tags of customers you do not wish to sync to Pencil. Please note that for all new customers on boarded through Pencil we'll auto-add a pencil tag to that customer so you can easily find/filter/report on this as needed. You can manually add additional tags you do not want Pencil to sync as required.)

      6. Do you want to sync customers without tags to Pencil? (If you have customers that you wish to sync to Pencil, but have not added any tags to in DEAR, turn the toggle ON. Pencil will sync all customers (include non-tagged customers) excluding tags you have added above.)

      7. DEAR Deposit Payments (see article for this)
    7. Click Save.
