How to re-connect when Xero is showing as Active but is disconnected in Pencil?

The most likely cause of Xero disconnecting is one of two ways:

  1. Someone in Xero -> Connected Apps -> disconnected Pencil (unlikely)

  2. The Xero API does have outages from time to time and every 3-6 months. It can affect one of our customers from time to time.

    Here are the steps to quickly re-connect Xero:

1. One quick way to check if Xero is disconnected is to check the Settings by clicking anywhere into the Xero tile.

Error will be easily spotted as it will appear in red font as shown below:

2. Once you spot that there is an Error, Toggle OFF Xero as shown below:

A pop-up will appear to confirm that Xero was disconnected succesfully.

3. After disconnecting Xero, proceed to reconnect it by click on the Connect to Xero button.

4. Next, select the Company Name and Click on Allow Access.

5. If you've already connected Xero to Pencil before, it should retain all the default settings but you will have to manually select the Branding Themes and Select the Invoice Template in Xero that Pencil will put the Pay Now Button to.

6. After manually selecting the Branding Themes Setting, click on Save.
